BIG News for Small Businesses and the NTPDA

Thanks for clicking through. As we work to get critical information to members of the National Tractor Parts Dealer Association  (NTPDA) we thought this Veronica Pugin DC SBA conversation about getting capital from the Small Business Administration would be very helpful. There have been many changes to the COVID19 Loan Program. Pay close attention to the new guidelines for gaining capitol for your small business. And, second, if you know a person who owns or manages a small business send this link to them. It could make a huge difference.  My guest is Veronica Pugin who is the Senior Advisor in the Office of Capital Access for the Small Business Administration. Here too is your link to the COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program that we talk about. Know there are new guidelines and an easier way in which to apply for business capital.

Thanks for being here!

Online Sales and Sales Taxes with George Isaacson

While in Maricopa, Arizona for the National Tractor Parts Dealer Association (NTPDA) Annual Conference and Trade Show we were able to sit down with George Isaacson January 2020 Professor George Isaacson, a Constitutional Law expert who has argued online sales tax in the Supreme Court and is also the Senior Partner for the law firm Brann & Isaacson, for a conversation about online sales and sales tax. This piece originally aired the week after our meeting and this new edit should be important for our membership to hear.  With over 12,000 tax bodies in the United States it's increasingly difficult to manage and collect taxes. However, there is a solution.  We open up by talking about the Constitution and trade.

This is the kind of information our members receive on a regular basis. Our goal is to offer real value to our members in every way we can. If you do not yet belong and your business revolves around agricultural parts here is an invitation to join us. Regular Membership is reserved for those companies who sell parts and do salvage. Associate Membership is for those companies who wish to sell to our Regular Members.  Here is the link to our Membership Page

Right to Repair Makes National News

The National Tractor Parts Dealer Association support the concept of "Right to Repair". Recently, during a campaign stop in Iowa a Sestak Farm Iowapresidential candidate spoke about "Right to Repair". Here is that story

Last week Insight on Business the News Hour was covering 2020 presidential candidate Admiral Joe Sestak (right in the photo) at a farm just outside of Des Moines, Iowa. Sestak was there to outline his agricultural policy. One of the highlights of his presentation was the "Right to Repair" issue. Following the talk the Business News Hour reported the following story: (To listen to this clip, click on the player.)

Right to Repair Clip NTPDA Sestak 2019

It is impressive that "Right to Repair" is on the radar screen of at least one of the 2020 presidential contenders. NTPDA is not endorsing any candidate for public office. We are simply sharing what was heard recently in Iowa and then shared across the county.

Right to Repair Update - By Kenny Roelofsen

First, I want to thank NTPDA and its members for giving me the opportunity to talk with you all at this year’s show in Corpus Christi. Kenny Personally I think a lot of good came from all of us discussing the problem at hand. I am especially looking forward to putting a team together with NTPDA and all its members to ‘combat’ this issue and get something done!

With that being said, while we were discussing the issue at hand the WEDA (Western Equipment Dealers Association) sent out a Legislative Update indicating that they had got the Right to Repair bill amended in Washington State to exempt all Ag Equipment from the bill. In other words even if Washington state passes the bill it would do nothing for agricultural equipment. This, in part, was achieved by WEDA lobbying efforts and testimonial.

“Moving forward, we anticipate our advocacy efforts in Washington will set a precedent for other states to follow,” said John Schmeiser, CEO WEDA. This is what we need to be careful of. Groups like WEDA and others will try and sneak in and get the bills changed without us knowing so. Another reason why we need to act fast and get our own team of lobbyist to help combat groups like WEDA.
