So, How Did We Do?

By all accounts you had a great time and you learned so very much. We call that adding value to your San Antonio Grouping for Blog Use membership. But don't just take our word for it. Here is what some of our members had to say about #NTPDA17 in San Antonio:

"I have to tell you it was fantastic. Of course I love seeing everybody but what was so good for me and our company was some of the new displays in the trade show. Because we are a Mahindra dealer it was great to meet a new parts supplier. That made the trip worthwhile for me. The training was also excellent. Mel and his ideas about hiring the right employee first was something I really needed to hear. And, because I need help, Crystal and her training on social media was excellent. You know, I really wish we could have had even more training and education because that's what we really need."

"We took hard goods for the trade show and it was excellent. Our goal in going to the NTPDA Annual Meeting & Trade Show is doing business and I can tell you we did a pot full of business. If only I had been feeling better it would have been off the charts. But, spending a day or two down with a lousy cold and maybe the flu took me out. Next year!"

"Time, I wish we had more time. DJ was so very entertaining, Mel kept everyone involved and Crystal had lots of information about social media especially LinkedIn. One hour just wasn't enough for her to cover, in detail, all the things our members wanted to hear.  Of course the social events were great but I too, like Mike, came down with a nasty cold. Drat!"

NTPDA and Social Media

Social Media HandsPerhaps you have noticed an uptick in our social media efforts. That's because we've refined some search items and we've been reaching out to more and more members as well as potential members.

Part of the future success for the National Tractor Parts Dealer Association is going to rest with how well we share the value of membership. While it's true that, when we get together, we have a great time it is also true that your association leadership is attempting to help you become more successful. We do that by sharing topical news items, links to new sales ideas, marketing advice and member to member sharing.

So, here is something you can do for us...get social.  

If you are using social media: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube make sure you hit us up as well.  Let us know what you are doing. Share with us your news. Tag us in your posts and let us use the power of social media to help promote the work you are doing.

Because We Want to Know!

We are already gearing up for the 2017 Annual Meeting and Trade Show in San Antonio and we want to hear Topics for San Antonio Survey from you! (You can click on the image to make it larger...)

Last week the Membership Committee asked that we send out to our members a simple survey asking YOU what you might want to learn during our meeting.  We sent out this simple survey this week and we really, really want to hear from you.  

What do you think is important to learn for your business?  What might help you grow your business? What might the association do to help you?

That Communication Thingy

NTPDA SM Images1 WebOver the past several months we've been more active on the NTPDA Facebook Page and other social media outlets.  Yes, we're on Twitter! And, we've been watching what our members have been posting, sharing and communicating. It's really exciting to see the way in which we keep up with each other...members and guests.

We've really enjoyed reading the Antique Tractor Blog from Steiner Tractor Parts and watching the videos "Wrenching with Rachel".  Good stuff and they get all kinds of traction.

Southeast Tractor Parts has been posting flowers on their Facebook Page. Different but effective.

The photography coming out of our friends at Combine World has been stunning. Great use of the camera for #Plant15!  Here's a sample from this weekend.  Combine World Photo May 2015

Oh, #Plant15?  That's the Hashtag we've been following and posting to for the 2015 Planting Season.  You just plug #Plant15 into your Twitter Search or Facebook Search and BAM you'll see what folks have been posting. Interesting stuff.

Our friends at Reliable Aftermarket Parts have Beaver Hat Bill and that's always a hoot to read.  Where he gets this stuff is beyond us.

So many of you posted thoughtful images and words for Memorial Day and that meant so much to so many.  Thank you.

Our friends from Mylex International have this "Pirate Thing" down. Every time we Mylex Pirate Photosee a post it makes us want to run out, grab an eye patch and shout "Arrrrrrrrrr!!"

Wengers of Myerstown have been searching through some old photos and it's always fun to see family members from long ago....and not so long ago.

Speaking of photos we can always count on our friends from Fastline to share some worthwhile images on Twitter and on Facebook.  Nice job.

Hoober Inc. is into Throwback Thursday Photos and they are a great addition to their social media efforts.

And, of course there are many, many more.  If you've got a few spare minutes (with all this rain out there no doubt you do) and you've got a Facebook Page or a Twitter Account go ahead and search for some interesting communication pieces from our family of members.

Something New from NTPDA!

Mobile Use of SmartphoneIt seems like it's always something, right?  Recently we've made some significant changes in our outreach program to existing and potential new members.  The changes in this blog is part of that effort.

For those of you who have websites or blogs it's going to be critical that you alter your online presence to become mobile friendly. Here are two solid reasons to make this happen as quickly as possible:

  • Over half of all website searches are now done on mobile devices. If a person searches for your website and it is not responsive to whatever device they are using (phone/tablet/desktop) the ability for them to use your site deminishes;
  • We believe that on April 21st Google will roll out a new "mobile web-crawler" which will identify if your site is or is not mobile friendly.  If the site is not mobile friendly we believe Google will flag it as such.  That means, even at the search, users will know if they should or (perhaps) should not continue.

Last year, we made changes to our website to make sure it was mobile friendly. This year we've altered our blog to make sure that it too matches the way in which users are switching how they access content.

Here is an article from our member and agency of record that details the Google changes in more detail.  If you have not made contact with your web developer we suspect you may want to do that very soon.

Why I Joined NTPDA

I just got my copy of The Bulletin and that caused me to THINK, really THINK about why in the world I ever joined the National Tractor Parts Dealer Association.  And, it was one word:

While that may have been my motivating factor years ago the reason I stay connected
to NTPDA today is more complex.  Sure, business is part of it and we're grateful to have been the agency of record for NTPDA but...it's more.

You see, I really LIKE the people that belong to this organization.  From the staff, who has always been wonderful to me and our crew, to the Board who changes yet stays committed to the efforts of us all, to the Members who fight like hell on a daily basis to build a life for themselves and their families and my fellow Associate Members who, like me, originally joined to "do business".

Jack McFarlandI have become friends, true friends, with so many of you. We have shared life and death struggles, happy and tearful moments and a drink or three and it has been rewarding and added to my quality of life.

So, that's why I joined NTPDA and why I'm staying.  How about you?

One more thing?  I look forward to seeing you in Memphis next year and here is a place where you can register.

Here at the National Tractor Parts Dealer Association (NTPDA) we Shutterstock_193013183 realize we exist because of you, our members. So, we were talking the other day about adding value to your membership and thought that if we feature our members in a blog post that would help you in your SEO as well as, perhaps, introduce you to others in the association.  

So, we want to talk about...you! 

We'd like to get, from you, a photo (your choice but make it smaller than 1 MB) and a story about your business. (500 words or less). You can talk about: 

  • Your history in the business;
  • Your key customers;
  • What new ideas you've helped launch that has been helpful;
  • What your ideas on customer service might be;
  • How has the Internet impacted your business;
  • What's hot in your part of the world;

And...more.

We're Doing a Member Survey!

SurveyRight now we're creating a survey for our members to gather input regarding our 2015 Annual Meeting and Trade Show.  What do you like about the event?  What would you like to see changed?  What would you like to learn, see and do that will add value to the Memphis Event?

We're doing this because we really want to hear from you about your association.  You can expect, any day now, an e-mail survey.  We hope that you'll fill it out and send it back before the week is out.  For those of you who want a fax copy...we're doing that too.
