Happy Father's Day!

Fathers Day BlogAll of us at NTPDA wish you and your family a Happy Father's Day!  We did a little looking around and the holiday had some starts and stops.

On July 19, 1910, the governor of the U.S. state of Washington proclaimed the nation’s first “Father’s Day.” However, it was not until 1972, 58 years after President Woodrow Wilson made Mother’s Day official, that the day became a nationwide holiday in the United States.  If you want to read more about the history of the holiday, here is a link.

While the history is interesting, it's great that our nation celebrates Fathers and all it means to be a good Dad.  It's not as flashy as some holidays but by simply remembering the goodness of Fathers...the work, the caring, the love...we can set an example for the next set of Fathers who look to their Dads for guidance.

Happy Father's Day!
