Trade Show

Thank You Members!

The National Tractor Parts Dealer Association is coming up next month in Corpus Christi. (If you have not yet registered here is that link.) It promises to be Thank You Written
warmer there and we've got a great line up of business education and "down-time" for all of us to enjoy.

Each year we ask our membership if they might be willing to help NTPDA with sponsorship of our various events and each year we get to say "Thank YOU!" to a great group of members who step up to help their association. Here's an updated list of those sponsors, click through to visit them...and yep we truly appreciate the help!

A Month Away!

It's hard to believe that in just a month we'll be gathering for the National Tractor Parts Dealer Association Annual Trade Show and Corpus Christi SkylineConference! With all the holiday cheer and excitement it's sometimes easy to forget about the middle of January...  We get it. If you have not yet registered and made plans to join us in Corpus Christi now is the time to make that happen. Here is a link to our registration page complete with the schedule of events and our top of the line speakers.

Come to Corpus Christi, where we hope it will be much warmer, and hang out, have some fun and learn how to become a better business owner/manager/employee. (A nudge to our Canadian Members...think...warm!)

Coming up a THANK YOU to so many who have decided to help NTPDA with sponsorship. We figure a little recognition is in order...right?

See you in Corpus Christi...remember, just a month away.

Yikes!

If You Are An Early Bird!

If you are an "Early Bird" we've got great news! Our Early Bird Registration is open until Thursday evening Early Bird Special Image the 30th of November. That means you've still got time to register for our Annual Conference and Trade Show and save some significant fees.

Why do we do this? Because we want to provide you value for your NTPDA membership and we like knowing early who is coming so we might plan ahead. It's important because not only do YOU save money when you register early we save too by being able to lock in our pricing from the hotel.

This January promises to be a great year for our Annual Conference and Trade show and we hope that you and your staff will join us in Corpus Christi.

In the coming days we'll be sharing BIG THANK YOU notes to those of you who have sponsored some of our events. That too...helps your Association bring you top talent for our educational sessions.

Here is your LINK to register today before our Early Bird flies away!

Doubling Our Membership

Over the weekend several of us were talking about membership, the life-blood of any organization including the National Tractor Parts Dealer Association. It Join us imagecame to us that there are three things any organization must do to recruit and retain members:

  • Let Perspective Members Know You Exist
  • Provide Value for Membership
  • Ask

Of the three NTPDA does a bang up job of providing members with value. Our website lists nearly two-dozen benefits. We also are pretty good at providing an opportunity to network, sell and learn during our Annual Conference and Trade Show. And, we're always here to help boost our members through our social media efforts.

Where we fall down a bit is in letting perspective members know we exist, sharing the benefits and making the ask. Sure we share information among our existing members through a wide variety of means from blogging to emails the quarterly NTPDA Bulletin. But, that is sort of like an echo chamber...we're talking among ourselves. For retention that is important but what about...growth?

The former Membership Committee had some ideas including outreach efforts, inviting potential members to our Annual Conference and reducing first year dues. Maybe it's time to ramp up the "Idea Machine" again...

Or what if each of us asked another supplier or a competitor to join our ranks. If we all committed to asking one additional person or company to join us and clearly laid out the case for value we could double our membership by January.

Perhaps it's something to ponder but more importantly just...do.

We'd love to hear your thoughts. Shoot us an email or comment here on the blog.

Thanks for reading and thank you for your membership!

We Are Thrilled!

Thank you, from all of us here at the National Tractor Parts Dealer Association (NTPDA)! We are thrilled that so many of you took the time to read our most recent post about our Annual Meeting and Trade Show in San Happy KidsAntonio.

The number of you who not only responded to our phone calls but also took the time to read what your fellow members had to say was great. We had fantastic response on Facebook as well as Twitter.

So, thank you!  Sometimes it might seem like we are "talking to ourselves" but your recent review of #NTPDA17 and your input is welcomed.

As we leave January 2017 behind us please know that we are already working on #NTPDA18 and listening to what you have to say. Our goal is, and always has been, to create real value for your membership. It doesn't matter if you are a Regular Member or an Associate Member...you are all important and we want to hear from you.

Thanks again for taking the time to communicate with us and for sharing your thoughts!

So, How Did We Do?

By all accounts you had a great time and you learned so very much. We call that adding value to your San Antonio Grouping for Blog Use membership. But don't just take our word for it. Here is what some of our members had to say about #NTPDA17 in San Antonio:

Terri Stevens - Tractor Barn

"I have to tell you it was fantastic. Of course I love seeing everybody but what was so good for me and our company was some of the new displays in the trade show. Because we are a Mahindra dealer it was great to meet a new parts supplier. That made the trip worthwhile for me. The training was also excellent. Mel and his ideas about hiring the right employee first was something I really needed to hear. And, because I need help, Crystal and her training on social media was excellent. You know, I really wish we could have had even more training and education because that's what we really need."

Mike Winter - Worthington Tractor Parts

"We took hard goods for the trade show and it was excellent. Our goal in going to the NTPDA Annual Meeting & Trade Show is doing business and I can tell you we did a pot full of business. If only I had been feeling better it would have been off the charts. But, spending a day or two down with a lousy cold and maybe the flu took me out. Next year!"

Phyllis Cox - NTPDA

"Time, I wish we had more time. DJ was so very entertaining, Mel kept everyone involved and Crystal had lots of information about social media especially LinkedIn. One hour just wasn't enough for her to cover, in detail, all the things our members wanted to hear.  Of course the social events were great but I too, like Mike, came down with a nasty cold. Drat!"

Linda Benton - Southeast Tractor Parts

She gave us a one word response when we asked. "#1 Fellowship!" We'll take it!

Dan Waters - Waters Tractor

"Great time at the NTPDA with a great group of people. And of course a special thank you to Atlantic!"

Jeff Griggs - All States Ag Parts

"I think the training was outstanding and the piece on hiring was so valuable to us that we started to implement some of those items as soon as we returned. The entire event was well worth our time and effort."

So, how did we do?  As always we're interested. You can hook up with NTPDA on Facebook here and our Twitter Stream is @NTPDA!

Thanks for reading and we look forward to hearing more from you!

All My Bags Are Packed...

We know, it's going to be like an ear-worm when you sing just that line from "Leavin' on a Jet Plane". The National Tractor Parts Dealer Association 33rd  Jet

We'll kick things off with breakfast (remember your breakfast ticket) at 8am and then it's off to learn some valuable information from D.J. Harrington who is going to give us a "Check Up From the Neck Up" really critical things that can help your business grow and prosper. Start Your Trade Show Planning Now!

In just a couple of months we'll be packing up and heading to San Antonio for the 2017 NTPDA Conference and Trade Show. Now is the time to start planning Texas Sample Trade Show Booth for a successful event  After all it costs money to travel, stay at the hotel, take time away from the office and send staff. You really should make it worth the time, money and effort.  Here are several things to get you started:

Associate Member - Exhibitor

  • Small Can Be Large - You don't have to bring EVERYTHING but you do have to be uncluttered. Lots of items often cause confusion and a mess stick to what is HOT or NEW;
  • Use Video - If you can bring one or two large video screens show something interesting about your business, get some testimonials, film something during the event and then play it back. Video will drive an audience.
  • Plan Your Presentation - While our group is small we bet there are several members that you really want to sell. Make a list of five or six and really concentrate on making those connections;
  • Promote Your Attendance - Sure you can send out an email but why not really make an impact. Send what we call a "bump" to your target customers about a month before the show. A "bump" is an envelope with something cool from your company to the attendees. If it is a nice pen...just send the box with a note to come to your booth to pick up the pen in person. Use your imagination;
  • Look Sharp - Wear that logo shirt or sweater and keep your brand alive;
  • Elevate - If you are asking people to sign something or enter something don't make them bend over. Make sure your registration table is at counter height;
  • Turn Off The Cell Phone - We all have voice mail. If you really, really need to make a call excuse yourself from the booth and go elsewhere. Remember the reason you are at the trade show is to sell you and your products/service;
  • Send a Thank You - Don't do the cheap email message. Send a hand written note to your contacts when you get back and let them know you'll be calling;
  • Follow Up - It does no good to collect business cards or attendee data and then not follow up. Take notes during your conversation and then make sure you follow up a week or two following the show.

Remember, you are there to represent your company, build relationships and sell something.

The Annual Conference and Trade Show is January 18 - 21, 2017. Be watching for more information and your registration information.
